Do I need this?

One of the pressing concerns that women do worry about is dry skin. It may not be at the very top of the list but I'm certain that most of us have experienced being startled by our own reflections in the mirror looking a bit water depleted and sapped.

Fret no more since there is something we can do about it. No matter where in the world we are, whether from cold or hot country our biggest weapon against sandpaper skin is WATER. Drinking enough water will not only give you that well-hydrated skin but it will sustain your body as a whole. Forget flavored drinks or whatever it is you fancy and stick to great 'ol H20, we all know that---we just have to live by it.

Another way of improving skin is making sure that you eat the right stuff. There are a lot of natural foods out in the market that would be great for the skin, they are packed with anti-oxidants against free radicals that speed up aging and they are nutritious.

There's Tomatoes, very rich in lycopene, this anti-oxidant is not only gonna lessen the damage caused by the sun it also lowers your risk in getting heart diseases and cancer. So, toss a bit of pasta and cherry tomatoes or have a glass of tomato juice during breakfast.

Carrots can help revitalize and tone your skin, it prevents wrinkling and skin problems like acne or scaly skin texture, but also be reminded that too much of somethings is not good so make sure you take carrot juice in moderation since having too much of it can cause skin discoloration.

Broccoli is good for both your liver and skin cells, it boosts its detoxifying power and making sure the underlying system is healthy clearly reflects on the skin.

So these are just examples,I'm not gonna give you an entire list of vegetables and their advantages, just put in mind that vegetables are good for the body, see, our mothers have reasons why they want us to finish our veggies.

For fruits, they are also good for you, they provide you with natural vitamins but they have to be eaten in moderation because some fruits are very high in sugar. Here's an example of the right serving size:

  • 1/2 cup of fruit
  • 1 medium piece of fruit
  • 1/4 cup of dried fruit
  • 3/4 cup (6 ounces) of 100% fruit or vegetable juice

For the serving size, imagine this:

  • 1 medium apple or orange: the size of a tennis ball
  • 1 cup vegetables or fruit: the size of a baseball
  • 1 medium potato: the size of a computer mouse
  • 1 cup of lettuce: 4 leaves

Lastly on the natural stuff you can do to have great skin, get enough sleep. Having a good night's sleep will not only make you productive at work or school but it gives you that healthy, well-rested glow. Just don't sleep while working coz that might cost you your job ^_^.

Now for some stuff you can buy to help your skin, there are only 2 things that I believe in: Moisturizer and Sunblock. Although some people take tablets and different other things, you may have heard of it as well but i won't recommend it not because i think it's not good but because I have not tried taking anything at all, and it would be best to ask your doctor if it is advisable or not.

For a good moisturizer, you can always get it from your local drugstore or at a beauty;/health shop and if you haven't found the right one for you yet just keep searching there are so many products to choose from, you will eventually get there. Now someone asked me before if body lotion would be OK to use for the face, nope, it is called a body lotion and face moisturizer for a reason, your facial skin is a lot sensitive compared to your body skin

For sunblock, the higher the SPF the better, although some moisturizers have SPF's already but it's better to be prepared because the damage of the sun will appear later in life and they are irreversible. You would want the best protection possible, you can get SPFs as low as 15 but you could go to 50 or even higher.
